Power PROFET™ +12 V/24 V/48 V Automotive Smart High-Side Switches

The Infineon BTS50007-1LUA, a member of the Power PROFET +12 V family, boasts an impressively low R_DS(ON) of 0.7 mΩ, making it an ideal drop-in replacement solution for traditional electromechanical relays, fuses, and discrete circuits. With its compact 8-pin leadless power package, this device can handle high current loads of up to 55 A, making it an ideal solution for 12 V board nets.

The Power PROFET + family has recently expanded to include new members for 24 V/48 V applications. The BTH500xx-1LUA single channel smart high-side power switches offer protective functions and diagnosis, making them highly suitable for driving high current loads up to 35 A in harsh automotive environments. These devices can be used in various automotive applications like heaters, glow plugs, fans, and pumps, but can also be utilized in industrial applications.

Infineon provides extensive design and evaluation tools for the Power PROFET + family with two protected switch shields designed for Arduino. The first shield is tailored for 12 V applications, featuring the BTS50005-1LUA and BTS50015-1LUA devices, which boast low R_DS(ON) values of 0.6 mΩ and 1.0 mΩ, respectively. This shield is particularly suited for replacing relays and fuses in power distribution and junction boxes, designed to work with both the Infineon XMC1100 Boot Kit and the Arduino UNO form factor. It enables quick evaluation of features such as analog current feedback and protection against short circuits.

To address the needs of higher-voltage applications, Infineon also offers a 48 V protected switch shield for Arduino. This flexible evaluation board is designed to drive loads and comes equipped with two devices, the BTH50015-1LUA and the BTH50030-1LUA, featuring R_DS(ON) values of 1.5 mΩ and 3.0 mΩ, offering industry-leading performance with some of the lowest ohmic values available for 24 V and 48 V power nets.
