LTM4693 Buck-Boost μModule® Regulator

Analog Devices' LTM4693 is an ultrathin, highly efficient, 2 A buck-boost μModule DC/DC converter that operates from input voltages above, below, or equal to the output voltage. Included in the package are the switching controller, power MOSFETs, inductor, and support components. The LTM4693’s advanced topology provides a continuous transfer through all operating modes. VIN operation from 2.6 V to 5.5 V covers a wide variety of power sources, including typical 3.3 V and 5 V. Output voltage ranging from 1.8 V to 5.5 V is set by an external resistor. Only a few external components are needed for a typical application.

Demonstration circuit DC3016A is a buck-boost power supply featuring the LTM4693. This demonstration circuit is designed to have an input voltage from 2.6 V to 5.5 V with selectable 1.8 V, 2.5 V, 3.3 V, and 5 V output voltage up to 2 A load. Derating may be necessary for specific V_IN, V_OUT, and thermal conditions.

The demo board includes a mode selector that allows the converter to run in CCM or Burst Mode® operation. Synchronization to an external clock is also possible. The switching frequency can be adjusted from 1 MHz to 4 MHz by a resistor and the soft-start period is programmable by an external capacitor.
