FX10 Pitch Stacking Connector with Floating 3-Piece Mezzanine Connector

The FX10 series along with the FX10-3 series join the Hirose FunctionMax family

Image of Hirose's FX10 Mezzanine ConnectorHirose's FX10-3 series utilizes a unique 3-piece floating contact system to simplify assembly and support high-speed transmission applications. It can compensate for up to up to ±0.3 mm in both the X- and Y-axis direction alignment errors. These mezzanine connectors provide smooth contact movement, and save assembly time and costs. Additionally, the ground connection design lowers crosstalk and the floating contact mechanism reduces stress on solder joints. By using the optional Interposer, additional stacking heights become available from 8.0 mm to 13.0 mm in 1.0 mm height increments. The Interposers are available in three design options: 1. differential impedance of 100 Ohm, 2. differential impedance of 85 Ohm, or 3. open pin field type.

The FX10 series features available stacking heights that are 4 mm (standard), 5 mm, 6 mm, 7 mm, and 8 mm. Transmission characteristics have been improved through a design that fixes ground plates to both sides of the header and receptacle. Signal and ground contacts are arranged in a rotation of 10:1 with the ground plate SMT connected to the board. The ground stability achieved serves to reduce noise. Metal fittings provide greater adhesion to the board protecting against peeling. The unique connector design provides a connection between the fitting and the ground plate for a stronger ground. Effective mating length is 1.1 mm for signal contacts. An alternate style without the ground plate is available. The space provided by the ground plate removal has been filled with additional signal contacts.
