The ifm Efector O1D series represents a breakthrough in optical distance measurement, utilizing advanced Photonic Mixer Device (PMD) time-of-flight (ToF) technology to deliver high-performance sensing in a compact 42 mm x 42 mm x 52 mm package. Designed for the rigors of industrial automation, these sensors provide a balanced solution that bridges the gap between low-cost background suppression sensors and high-end, expensive ToF systems. With a sensing range of up to 10 meters (and up to 100 meters in retroreflective versions), the O1D family ensures reliable object detection and distance measurement regardless of target color, material, or shine. Its robust die-cast zinc housing and immunity to ambient light—up to 100,000 lux—make it an ideal choice for both indoor workshops and harsh outdoor environments.
